CE Gant has practiced integrative medicine, psychology and psychiatry for 34 years. Dr. Gant received his BS in chemistry from Hampden-Sydney College and his MD from the University of Virginia. His 1984 PhD thesis in psychology entitled "A Neurophysiological Model of the Transformational Psychologies" proposed a model by which potentially measurable and progressive neurophysiological changes should necessarily accompany the process of psychospiritual self-actualization. Recent neuroimagery studies have proven this model to be true. While serving as a psychiatric consultant at mental health clinics, Dr. Gant's research proved that massive cuts in medication were possible if mental health clinicians move from a pharmaceutically-based, disease model of treatment to a self-actualization, wellness model, by combining various types of psychotherapy (such as family systems therapy, gestalt therapy, rational emotive therapy) and various spiritual practices.
His ADHD research (papers available) suggests that ADHD is caused by easily correctible brain toxicity and/or nutritional deficiencies and that pharmaceutical treatments for ADHD are now obsolete. Dr. Gant's book "ADD and ADHD: Complementary Medicine Solutions" summarizes his work into the Orthomolecular Medicine and provides practical guidelines for treatment. His book "End Your Addiction Now" empowers recovering lay persons and clinicians with practical ways of identifying probable and specific neurotransmitter deficiencies through self-administered questionaires, and based on those results, then guides consumers in the selection of nutritional protocols to mitigate symptoms of addiction and to improve outcomes (studies available).
Dr. Gant proposes that Orthomolecular Medicine, a term coined by Linus Pauling, and mindfulness-based therapies, will force a complete rethinking of the premises upon which modern medicine and psychiatry is based. Through a national lecture tour (schedule available), professional meetings, webinar trainings/certifications and publications, Dr. Gant provides healthcare professionals with information about natural, safer, more efficacious and cost-effective treatments that will ultimately guide medicine back to its ethical and healing traditions.
